Green Day New Song

The story continues today with one of my favourite bands: Green Day. At the end of 2003 Green Day was working on their latest back then album with Iggy Pop: Skull Ring. Green Day new song was first heard on February 1 next year. The song was a cover for the Skull RIng and was entitled 'I fought the Law'. We heard it in a iTunes commercial during the Super Bowl (god, I like that commercials). Back then it seemed that the differences that appeared a year before between Dirnt, Cool and Armstrong were solved and long forgotten. We had Green Day again on the scene and with rockin' songs.

WHat resulted from Green Day members working again? A 2004 album - American Idiot. It was not another album by Green Day, it was the one that reached the top of the Billboard charts and the album was not alone: the green day new song - entitled with the same name as the album - destroyed anything else and became the top of the chart very fast.

What were they singing? What genre? Well, in the Billboard charts it was labeled as a punk rock opera. We don't know what that really means but we are sure it was some great stuff. Why? Because the album - American Idiot - wont the 'Best Rock Album' 2005 Grammy title and rulled out every expectation in the same year at the MTV music awards - they won 7 out of 8 categories where they were nominated.

In the same year Green day new song made the longest tour in the band's career. They had concerts in South America, UK, Australia, Japan and other countries. It was United Kingdom where thay had 130000 fans singing along side them in just two days. In a Kerrang! poll Green Day made the first place for 'The Best Show on Earth' after they made a shot movie with videos from the concerts ar the Milton Keynes and National Bowl in England.

This year, on April, on Brodway opened American Idiot: The Musical for which Green Day made the sound track. In that sound track we were able to hear parts from the Green Day new Song 'When It's time' and we were quite happy to assist to another prime time launch of a Green Day song. In June on the UK iTunes site was made available the 'When it's time' song.
